Bridal Shower Cakes

Bridal shower cakes are often made to mimic the cake design chosen for the wedding, but on a smaller scale.  However, for many casual showers, the cake may be more playful and fun.

This couple was headed to Jamaica for their honeymoon.

This cake was created for a lingerie shower in the bride's favorite color.

This cake shows a seasonal theme.

Flowery Cakes for the Ladies

A classic design for a birthday cake for a lady will almost always include flowers and there are so many possibilities!

Gumpaste flowers, shiny chocolate ganache, and cake balls!

More gumpaste flowers on buttercream.

This design is all buttercream... a popular request.

Tracing with Icing

With a technique called a "frozen buttercream transfer", you can create very specific images without the artificial look (and significant expense) of images printed from a computer using frosting sheets.  Reverse images are traced on to wax paper, frozen, then flipped onto a cake top.

This cake was served at a rehearsal dinner to honor the groom's alma mater.

Celebrating the anniversary of a wedding that took place in an exotic location.
Hibiscus flowers added a little dimension to the cake top.

The bride chose her future husband's special car for his cake!

His favorite musical group!

The stained glass was the frozen transfer on this cake (the church provided the photo).

Party Cookies

I love to create themed cookies.  They may reflect an event, an invitation, or a "special something" in the life of  the honored guest.

Favors for a special Elvis fan!
A girly cowboy hat to celebrate a special birthday.

Favors for wedding guests.  These cookies were iced with embossed fondant and then decorated with royal icing.

These cookies said "Thank You" to some very special employees at a nearby assisted living center.

For a "King of the Jungle" baby shower.

Iced beer mug cookies were created to celebrate at an Octoberfest themed co-ed wedding shower.

To celebrate spring!

Little Girl Cakes - Princesses, Flowers & Butterflies

Cakes for little girls are always sweet and full of fantasy... and pink!  Here are a few of my favorites.

This princess was assembled from carved pieces of cake baked in heart shaped pans.

Pearly buttons, of course.

Sheet cakes are always a nice option for easy serving.

Six Disney princesses "traced" in buttercream.

Fondant flowers and butterflies for two sisters.

Pink and green bows make a very girly cake.

Cutting Cakes for Cupcake Weddings

When a bride chooses to serve cupcakes at her wedding, the celebration usually includes some type of  "cutting cake" so that the ceremonial cake cutting can still be part of that special day.  Usually it is a smaller cake that may be served to the families and wedding party.  Here are three styles of cutting cakes that were custom created for cupcake weddings.  All are iced with fondant and include handmade gumpaste flowers.

This would also be perfect for a pink and black wedding.

This cutting cake was created for my very special niece, Lindsay.  The cake topper was designed to show off her vintage bride and groom set.  Fondant lace cutouts decorate the base of each tier.

Gumpaste roses and stephanotis surround the vintage couple.

A Few Cakes for the Men

Cakes for the guys can be challenging.  The design can either focus on "man colors", which usually includes black in a stripey pattern, or it can focus on a hobby.  The first cake was created for a handyman and is decorated with tools molded from white chocolate in a brown fondant tool belt.  The chocolate was painted with edible petal dust and pearl dust to get the look of metal.  The next two cakes were created for fishermen.

"Daddy's" little white dog is always by his side, so we put him in the boat!

This was a groom's cake... fondant covered red velvet cake.  Wish I had seen the first cut!

Just These Colors, Please!

For a birthday or any other celebration, sometimes we just want to match the cake to the honoree's favorite colors or the theme colors chosen for the party.

Lavender and Yellow

or teal, purple, and brown!

Graduation!

This cake was created to honor a special graduate from the University of Georgia.  The oval top tier fit the Georgia "G" perfectly!  Congratulations!

Cupcakes for a Baby Shower

These cupcakes were inspired by some of the creative bakers who frequent the cakecentral website.  I was happy to provide the funny faces, rolled roses, and luster fondant pearl cupcake toppers to some dear friends to serve at their party.  The first shot is an "aerial view" of the cupcakes on their tower. :0)
