A Pink Birthday Cake!

When asked for a chocolate cake with pink icing, I took the opportunity to decorate the cake with designs inspired by some quilling cakes that I had seen online.  Modern, yet girly, I think.  Hope you had a happy birthday, Jana!!

A mixture of fondant and gumpaste was cut into strips and rolled to create the flowery designs.

Pink & White in Candy Clay

Candy clay is a mixture of corn syrup and melted candy melts.  It can be used to make all kinds of figures and shapes, but I really like the way roses look when they are shaped from candy clay.  Unlike gumpaste, they are very tasty, too!

Cupcakes for a bridal shower topped with candy clay roses.

A Valentine heart cake decorated with cornelli lace (in buttercream icing) and a ribbon with a cluster of candy clay roses.  The ribbon is also made of candy clay, rolled and cut into shape.

An anniversary cake accented with candy clay roses... a classic design.

Little Girl Cakes - Princesses, Flowers & Butterflies

Cakes for little girls are always sweet and full of fantasy... and pink!  Here are a few of my favorites.

This princess was assembled from carved pieces of cake baked in heart shaped pans.

Pearly buttons, of course.

Sheet cakes are always a nice option for easy serving.

Six Disney princesses "traced" in buttercream.

Fondant flowers and butterflies for two sisters.

Pink and green bows make a very girly cake.

Just These Colors, Please!

For a birthday or any other celebration, sometimes we just want to match the cake to the honoree's favorite colors or the theme colors chosen for the party.

Lavender and Yellow

or teal, purple, and brown!
